Catching Up – Followup on Singer, Etc.

Last week, I was on vacation and was fairly successful at staying away from work stuff, except for what was necessary in getting the NY Times Letter out.

Since the time it was made public, I’ve been contacted by a lot of people – through the blog, email and facebook – wanting to get added to the list of endorsers. This week, I’ll coordinate with the folks at AAPD to figure out a mechanism for that to happen and a “master” list that will be the one with the latest updates.

I will also try to fix the weird coding issues on the entry I linked above. I was trying to save time, took a short cut and lived to regret it.

I’ll also try to start replying to comments here within a day or two.

More later today… –Stephen Drake

  1. I’d like to sign the letter too and am looking forward to the update. Could you comment on something? Lately I’ve been having some conversations with different people who think that I oppose healthcare reform because I am worried about rationing. I talk about this a lot as something to watch out for in the upcoming legislation, but despite having views that are definitely more conservative than Obama’s on things like abortion, I support healthcare reform, including a public option, as long as rationing against the elderly and handicapped is not part of it. No matter how many times I say this, no one believes me, even those whose relatives have been directly impacted by futile care laws. They think that I got all my concerns about rationing from the political right, a position that they try to use my political stances to support. How do I effectively address the rationing concern yet also address the need for healthcare reform? Any thoughts? Do you have this problem?

  2. Thanks. Mmmm – what’s “vacation” in relation to disabilities for many of us? A whole topic in itself. Glad you had one.
